Today started early at 7:45 am as we start work at 8 am in the hospital.  Ewelina is working in the Blood Bank and it is very interesting work.   She meets lots of new people each day giving blood.  This is the main centre for blood tests/donations which have been taken from patients within the hospital. After the people have donated blood they are given  a sandwich and juice to help them recover from giving blood.  She was also told by her supervisor that Spain has the highest amount of people donating blood and organs in the world.  This is absolutely fantastic. Christina is working in the surgical outpatients clinic and is also meeting many patients and consultants.  She had the opportunity to assist the nurse in attending to a patient who has had a major stomach operation.  This was such an amazing opportunity and the people are so lovely in the Blood Bank and the Outpatients departments. We finish at 3  pm and so return  back to the apartment. We are looking forward to tomorrow as each day brings new challenges and experiences here in Madrid.
