I really enjoyed my placement in Finland. The travel in Finland is excellent, trains are always on time and people are always helpful if you are unsure about something. The college facilities were brilliant. The staff and students helped you whenever without any hassle. The things we got to do such as force techniques and security cameras and how to use metal detectors that are present in airports was so enjoyable and was very relevant to the security course I am currently doing in GTI. The accommodation was excellent, the room was very nice and clean. The most important experiences I have taken away from my mobility experience is how to have good timekeeping, and how to be organised.
Another experience which was important was building my confidence as I have never been away from home on my own. I can be a shy person at times so this trip greatly boosted my confidence and to communicate with people from different countries. I learned how to be more independent as I have never been without my parents on trips abroad so it was nice to get the chance to have freedom to have my own money bed food etc.
l met new people in Finland who were very friendly to us and even met people who were not from Finland who were also on work experience from countries such as Germany and Italy. As a result of meeting these new people i improved my confidence and how to communicate with people who did not have good english and I also gained a few new words from these countries which was very nice. I most importantly learned that you should dress for the working world. Overall I greatly enjoyed my placement in Finland.

In the period abroad I undertook numerous task. This included force techniques, use of security technologies such as cameras and how to make a wire to connect the camera, constructing security locks/door locks, getting a brief on security and police in Finland. We also looked at x-ray machines and the metal detectors used in an airport.
I have gained a lot of new skills, knowledge and competences from this period abroad, including interaction with foreign cultures, self defence, clarity of speech, organisation, and time keeping, We also learned about Finnish culture, the security systems and police. I now have the competence to do a task on my own and get it done well, through the learning I have received.
I will take a number of key experiences away from this placement, such as travelling without family for the first time, and experiencing a new culture with very different weather. Experiencing another way of living and how they work. The most important experiences were the force techniques, learning how to defend oneself and others. This will become useful when looking for work in the security sector. Also the experience of the security camera's setup is very important as I can bring this back and use this in a place of work. The x-ray machines knowledge I learned will become very useful to have experience in this area. This was a very useful experience for us all as it was a more practical side to security than what we have done so far. I gained confidence due to the people being very friendly and helpful of which I am grateful.

I undertook a number of different tasks while on my work experience. I was doing self-defence/combat training twice a week. I was work shadowing the college security on their daily duties. I was given the opportunity to create student id card for new students and to create an electronic access card for the college for a new worker. This was both new and beneficial. I was assigned with monitoring the security cameras and logging incidents. I was also tasked with researching previous incidents and writing a report.
The most important experiences I have brought back with me is the use of security cameras and the self-defence/combat training. These are the 2 most beneficial things I have learned as I can apply to my work and personal life back home in Ireland. In my opinion there was no negative aspect to the the experience. The host college suited every need we had for our security class. There was no negative aspects of the trip it was fantastic. I have learned self-defence/combat training, how to construct an efficient door lock from scratch, how to create a wire for security cameras and how to connect and re-wire cameras, how to use security cameras and I interviewed different security guards.
I also have an abundance of new knowledge now from completing my training. I learned different Finnish laws, training procedures and requirements to become a security guard, police or army personnel. I feel now I am better skilled for my job as a door supervisor and have the knowledge to progress in my education and my profession. I am now a more competent worker after my time in Finland. I feel on a personal note I have improved my confidence and independence greatly. I will be able to apply both of these in my profession and hope to learn even more knowledge in this field as it will help me climb the ladder in my work or else help me attain a better employment contract elsewhere.

My Erasmus+ experience was fantastic and I loved every minute of it. From meeting new people to working in a hotel environment and learning new skills that will help me going forward in my future employment. In the near future I hope to be able to bring the skills and experiences that I have learnt into my dream career of becoming a paramedic, and I feel more confident and comfortable about choosing this career from the new skills and experiences that I will take with me into the job. From the culture to the hosts, teachers and the other Erasmus+ students, they made this experience great and I would just like to thank everyone that helped in organising this placement and for giving me a great experience. I will never forget this experience and it's up there as the best 3 weeks of my life.
Without a shadow of a doubt the Erasmus+ experience has been the best experience that I have had to date. I loved how we had to be independent and to budget for ourselves and we had to share an apartment with one other person. Our work experience was based in a hotel where I worked as part of the house porters staff. Our main job was to assist clients by bringing their luggage to their rooms. We also had to look out for people who were not checked in to the hotel for security purposes. I loved how we got the opportunity to explore the Spanish culture and to learn more about the language.
The main skills I improved on were my interpersonal and communication skills. I had to communicate with the hotel reception staff and the clients, and these skills are essential in the world of work. The placement will also look good on my CV and will hopefully help me in applying for future jobs. This experience definitely improved my confidence immensely.

Tenerife in a nutshell was an amazing experience that will remember for the rest of my life. The group that I went with were great and we got on right away from the start. The work experience itself, although not directly related to our course it was still highly enjoyable and it taught me a lot of new skills that I will be able to apply and also life lessons that I use in my life and work. The main tasks I had to do in the hotel was to help guests with information, luggage and acting as security. This experience in both working as a receptionist and in security
helped me in developing my organisation, communication skills as well as my patience which are all qualities and skills required to be a good paramedic.

I found the experience of working abroad to be very interesting and fun. Overall, I immensely enjoyed the experience of being independent. I learnt many new skills such as a better understanding of communicating with people who I didn’t know beforehand and from a different culture. I found myself to be more social as I think the whole experience was good for me and made me more confident. The people I met at work were amazing and so was the weather. I also enjoyed the local food and getting to experience some of the local activities like climbing mountains and swimming in the sea.
I think that by doing this work placement it has enhanced my job opportunities in later life. I feel more confident in my own abilities of working with people and I also feel more adept at living in an unknown environment. I also think it was a wonderful opportunity as I would never have been able to do this without the backing of Leargas and the European Union. I really appreciate the opportunity that I was given and loved every minute of it.
